1) We officially have a second named female character, fulfilling the first condition of the bechdel test
2) Exposition that doesn’t feel like it’s just there to be exposition, protagonist who asks questions because he just as new to things as the audience
3) character tries to do thing efficiently, life gets in the way, character has to improvise, JUST WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT (aka how to keep audience watching, and literally how Loki functions within the Thor franchise, he tries to do stuff smart and then life’s like HOW ABOUT NOT THAT)
4) again, a more organised feel to GM’s operation, it has to feel sustainable, to then spiral out of control once our protagonists arrive: if it feels chaotic from the beginning, then there’s no rules to be broken, no order to be destroyed, no impact to be had
5) I wanted to have a contrast between the clean image GM keeps towards his clients and the kind of dark side, as on last page, that is him doing this for his own pleasure in violence and games, rather than for business only, to give more depth to the character rather than keeping everything surface level
6) OH YEAH, LIE ABOUT THINGS, KEEP SECRETS, FUCK I almost forgot about that part, BE UNDERCOVER YOU FOOLS, one of my biggest beefs with the movie, that they didn’t lie to GM about who they were, don’t just make characters be honest with everyone, make them keep secrets from others, from each other, that’s how you create drama and open up possibilities for stuff to play out in different ways, otherwise you’re limiting yourself in how your story can unfold, again no impact to be had if there’s honesty to begin with
